RECEPTIVE MINDS
Come as you are. Grow as you're ready.
Chances are, if you’ve found this page, something in life is challenging right now. You don’t have to figure it out alone.
How We Can Support You
We offer a therapeutic space that is:
-
Neurodiversity-affirming – Respecting your wiring, not trying to “fix” you
-
Trauma-aware – Sensitive to the ways the past shows up in the present
-
Compassionate and collaborative – You set the pace, and your voice matters
-
Educational and empowering – Helping you understand your mind, body, and patterns
-
Tailored to the individual – Because no two brains or stories are the same
We provide evidence-based approaches and a deeply curious mindset. We walk alongside you as you reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been ignored, judged, or misunderstood.
Who We Work With
At Receptive Minds, we support children, teens, and adults who are:
-
Neurodivergent – including those with ADHD, Autism, PDA, sensory processing differences, and more
-
Neurotypical – therapy is for everyone, and you're equally welcome here
-
Parents of neurodivergent children or children with complex behavioural needs, looking for support, clarity, and connection
-
Living with the effects of trauma, neglect, or chronic invalidation
-
Managing depression, anxiety, or struggles with body image and eating
-
Caught in patterns of people-pleasing, shame, or emotional overwhelm
-
Experiencing burnout, stress, or a sense of social disconnection
-
Curious about themselves and seeking deeper self-understanding
-
Partners and loved ones of neurodivergent people, navigating complex dynamics around late diagnoses, conflicting needs, and relational repair
We offer therapy online via telehealth. For younger clients, we typically find success from around 10 years of age, depending on the child’s ability to engage meaningfully in a virtual setting. We approach this on a case-by-case basis, recognising that every child is unique and that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience.
Our Approach
At Receptive Minds, our work is grounded in a Person-Centred philosophy. We believe therapy is most effective when it begins with genuine connection, emotional safety, and deep trust. That means you set the pace, and you bring what matters most. We’re here to walk alongside you—not direct you.
As therapy unfolds, your counsellor will draw on tools and strategies that best support your unique needs, preferences, and neurobiology. Our integrative approach often includes Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), schema therapy, and neurobiology-informed psychoeducation.
We don’t see your struggles as flaws to fix, but as signals from parts of you that have adapted to survive. We hold space for all parts of you to be seen, heard, and understood—with compassion, curiosity, and without pressure or shame.
Let’s Connect
We know how important it is to feel safe and supported in therapy. That’s why we offer a free 20-minute discovery call—a chance to ask questions, share a little about what you’re seeking, and explore whether we might be the right fit for your needs.
About Me
My name is Melissa Neroni
-
I’m a counsellor, teacher, and supermum—I completed my Masters of Counselling while raising two neurodivergent cherubs.
-
I’ve always been fascinated by how our brains work. I actually chose teaching over counselling after school because adults seemed too scary! Having "adulted" for a couple of decades or so, I now realise kids can be just as scary.
-
Don’t make me choose between a parenting book and trashy reality TV… it depends on the day (and how much chocolate I’ve had).
